Cloud compliance consultants in Canada

Cloud compliance help comes from three kinds of firm: cloud consultancies that harden accounts, compliance consultancies that build the control set, and auditors who test it. Most projects need the first two, and never the second and third from the same firm.

A Canadian company hiring cloud compliance help pays $8,000 to $30,000 CAD for account hardening or a landing zone, $12,000 to $40,000 CAD for SOC 2 or ISO 27001 readiness, and $1,200 to $2,500 CAD a day for practitioners billing time. Some firms do both the cloud work and the compliance work. None can then audit you.

How to scope the engagement

  1. Name the standard, report type and deadline your customer gave.
  2. List your providers, account or subscription counts, and whether production is separated.
  3. Say whether you want the firm to make changes or advise your engineers.
  4. State your identity provider, CI/CD and ticketing tools.
  5. Ask for deliverables by name: landing zone code, control matrix, policy set, evidence map.

The quote form collects this in one place. The cost estimator gives a range first.

Independence

The firm that designs or implements your controls cannot audit them. For SOC 2, the auditor is a licensed CPA firm; for ISO 27001, an accredited certification body. A consultant introducing you to an auditor is normal. A consultant offering to do both is not.

Cloud compliance consultants by city

Most cloud compliance work is remote, but local privacy law and buyer mix differ. Each city page covers the provincial law, the nearest Canadian cloud regions and the local buyers driving requests.

How much does a cloud compliance consultant cost in Canada?

Fixed-scope engagements run $8,000 to $30,000 CAD for cloud hardening and $12,000 to $40,000 CAD for SOC 2 or ISO 27001 readiness. Day rates for experienced practitioners are $1,200 to $2,500 CAD.

Do we need an AWS partner for SOC 2?

No. Provider partner status says a firm has certified staff and delivered projects on that provider. It is useful for cloud work, and irrelevant to whether they understand SOC 2. Ask about both.

Can the same firm harden our cloud and prepare us for audit?

Yes. Many firms do both. What they cannot do is also perform the audit.

Firms are listed in the directory as they are confirmed. TrazTech, which operates this site, runs a cloud security assessment.
